How To Make Easy Profit With Iron Ore (No Glitching) (Perfect For Mages)

This method is completely legitimate and does not require any glitching, cheats or exploits. If you want to earn money and you want to play legitimately this is the guide for you.

Requirements:

  • Transmute Spell
  • Game progress up to Whiterun
  • About 100 Gold
  • Enough damage to fight through some basic enemies
  • About 5000 Gold plus (Merely to speed up the process a lot)

And that’s about it. You might think that sounds like a lot, but in this guide I will explain where you can obtain all of the above in less than an hour. Sounds good? Read on…

Firstly you will need to obtain the Transmute spell tome/book. You can find this in Halted Stream camp. To get to Halted Stream camp you need to go up on the map from Whiterun, it should be the first camp you come across. If you can’t find it follow the stream. This is what the camp looks like:

Halted Stream Camp

Inside the camp you will find four bandits which aren’t particularly hard to kill. If you’re having trouble however you can quite easily sprint past them and enter the door to the mine.

Beware of the rock trap almost immediately after you enter the mine. Once inside you will come across a bandit, this bandit is easy to kill and he is carrying a key to open the door into the main complex. There are also lots of iron ore veins in Halted Stream camp, two of these are in this first area.

After killing the bandit open the door and head down the passage, you will enter a large room with a mammoth carcass. At the far left of the room next to a table there is a bandit chief, beware of this character as he is tougher than the rest of the bandits you have already met. Also in this area are two more bandits. After dispatching these bandits you can go up to the table where the chief was stood. As you enter the room, to the left. On this table is the spell tome: Transmute

The next step is to learn the spell, this can be used at any level even though it’s an adept spell. It will cost roughly 87/88 magicka to cast each time.

Now onto the money part!

Go to Whiterun and buy as much iron ore as possible. You should now start casting transmute to turn these ores into silver ores or gold ores. It’s your choice, however a silver ore will always be turned into a gold ore before a iron to a silver. This means if you want to keep silver ore you must drop or store your silver ore as you go along. You can now craft and sell jewelery or simply sell the silver/gold ore back to the vendor for an easy profit.

If you have around 5000 gold head to Dragonsreach and talk to the mage there. Buy some of his alteration gear. I recommend adept or apprentice robes of alteration. A circlet of alteration is findable in the camps around the Whiterun area.

Thanks for reading!

NIice one! This works really well. got plenty of gold doing it. Although I world reccoment going to the magic school and talking to the mages there as they all sell expert robes in the different magic schools, these give you bigger boosts.

Good idea, I normally only go to Farengar as I don’t use this technique that often. I use a different one that I will be posting tomorrow or Monday which is a lot better! Involves glitching though I’m afraid!

Hey guys, now do you have a suggested “best” shop owner to sell to? I have the amulet of Skeletor (or whatever it’s called lol) that gives 10% better prices but I don’t want to get ripped off with lowball offers. To help I went through and did the power speech level in Riften.. (funny that the guy talks about the Maven while she stands right behind him) LOL Anyway the site is great and the game is a lot of fun.

Hi, I can’t think of a “best” shop owner to to sell to, but I think that shop owners whom you have done some service for in the past give you better prices. Like that general goods store in Riverwood whose owner gives you The Golden Claw quest (once you’ve completed it). Unfortunately, being a small store, they do have a limited supply of gold so it better to go to a store in one of the main cities.

You might try Whiterun. You become a Thane of Whiterun very early in the game after doing a part of the main quest, so perhaps that would improve your standing with shopkeekers in that settlement. It occurs to me that the blacksmith by the Skyforge above the Companions’ headquarters might give you better prices as you progress in and eventually finish the Companion’s quest-line.

This is just speculation though, I don’t know where or whether you can find a shopkeeper who will give you the best possible offers in the game. I have heard some players say that the deals you get are the same throughout the game and depend entirely on one’s Speech skill.

The best store is Riverwood Trader, get the perk that allows you to invest in shopkeepers and invest in him. It often glitches so he has 10,000+ gold.
